Pantera Drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott sadly passes away too soon at 54

Sadly at age 54, we just learned that Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott has passed away. As of yet no cause has been given publicly. I am going to guess, however that it coold be similar to what happened to Megadeth drummer Nick Menza, who passed away at 50 after a drumming gig at yhe loaded Potato.

I was, as a guitarist, very inspired by Panterawhich meant we listened to every drum beat to lock into those amazing Pantera grooves that Vinnie created with my favorite guitarist of all time, his brother Dimebag Darrell.

We were just reminiscing about a time that three of us drove to Toronto in 1999 to see a band called Kings ‘X’ in Toronto around the time of Black Sabbath & Pantera’s show…when the members of Pantera arrived at the (now defunct) El Mocambo to join the small crowd of about thirty people.

Dimebag was taken from us in 2004 by a horrendous act of violence .. much too soon 🙁

Now the brothers are finally reunited. Let’s listen to Pantera and perform it as much as possible this year and from now on.
